Earlier source notes
These notes were based on information such as video titles available when written, not a review of the full videos. Counts may differ from current totals. Check the shop’s own menus, prices and hours before visiting.
About this place
Of the 40 titles read (68 in total), 13 put the shop's age in the title, and 150 years is the most common, with 7. The menu comes down to one dish, unagi-don. 15 of the 24 Korean titles name unagi-don, and across all 40 the only dish that is not a rice bowl is grilled eel, in 2. Celebrity mentions split by language, with 6 of the 16 Japanese titles putting a celebrity like Tamori or a TV feature in the title, while 1 of the 24 Korean titles names Sung Si-kyung. Talk of crowds stretches across 8 years in 3 titles, a queue in 2017, lots of tourists in 2022, and reservations required in 2025.
Where they disagree
1 of the 40 titles said to skip this place and go to a local spot instead. The title alone does not say why. 1 other title wrote that there are lots of tourists but locals too, and the remaining 38 either recommend it or give no verdict in the title.
Good for
- Planning to eat just one bowl of unagi-don, no menu deliberation
- An itinerary that passes along the Nakasu riverside
- Groups bringing a toddler (high chair available, 1 mention)
Before you go
- A tight schedule that needs a seat right away, with no wait or reservation
- Looking for a place with few tourists
